What BLACKBOX does

BLACKBOX is a local music player for Windows desktop and laptop computers. You choose a music folder, and the player builds a searchable library in your browser. It includes playlists, queue controls, listening history, listening profiles, Track Moments, audio controls, visualizer workspaces and a separate Record view.

BLACKBOX does not provide an online music catalogue or streaming service. It is designed to play supported audio files that you already have access to.

Where your music goes

The player reads music from a folder you explicitly select. It does not upload your audio files to a BLACKBOX music server. App preferences and listening data are kept in your browser profile and can also be mirrored to a connected BLACKBOX Data and Playlists folder. You can export a backup from inside the player.

The optional GET LYRICS action contacts LRCLIB only when you choose it. The request uses track metadata, not the audio file. See the Privacy Notice.

Publisher identity

BLACKBOX Studio is the public name of this independent software project, operated from India. It is a project identity, not a claim that a company or other registered legal entity exists under that name. For support, privacy or rights-related correspondence, use blackboxstudiofr@proton.me.
