How the BLACKBOX website and local music player handle information.

Published under the project name BLACKBOX Studio ยท Last updated 2 November 2026

1. Who publishes BLACKBOX

This website and player are published under the public project name BLACKBOX Studio and operated from India. BLACKBOX Studio is an independent project identity, not a claim that a company or other registered legal entity exists under that name. Privacy questions can be sent to blackboxstudiofr@proton.me.

2. Information handled by the website

The static website does not ask visitors to create accounts, complete forms, subscribe to a newsletter or submit music files. It does not include a BLACKBOX-operated advertising tracker or analytics script.

When a visitor loads a page or file, the website hosting and network-delivery provider may process technical request information needed to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the site. This can include an IP address, requested URL/path, date and time, browser or device information, referring URL and security signals. The planned host is Cloudflare Pages; Cloudflare describes its handling of log and network data in its Privacy Policy. The exact provider configuration and retention settings must be checked after deployment.

3. Information handled by the BLACKBOX player

When you open the player, you decide which local folder to grant access to. The browser reads supported audio files and their available metadata from that selected location. The player does not upload those audio files to BLACKBOX servers.

Player preferences, favorites, listening history, playlists, profiles, Track Moments, cached lyrics and related app state may be stored in browser localStorage and IndexedDB. If you explicitly connect a BLACKBOX drive root and grant permission, compatible state can also be written to files in its Data and Playlists folders. You control those local files and browser permissions. Browser data is separated by site origin; the hosted player and a localhost copy do not automatically share browser-only data.

Folder access is permission-based and managed by your browser. The publisher does not receive a copy of the selected folder or its audio contents.

4. Optional lyrics lookup

If you press GET LYRICS, the player sends the current track title and artist, and its duration when available, to LRCLIB to look for a lyrics match. If the first lookup does not return lyrics, the player may make a second search request using the track title and artist. This request goes directly from your browser to LRCLIB. Your audio file is not sent. Lyrics already stored locally or in the player's cache can be used without that request.

LRCLIB is a third-party service. Its own availability, logging, privacy practices and terms are outside BLACKBOX Studio's control. Do not use GET LYRICS if you do not want the track metadata sent to that provider.

5. Email and support messages

If you email blackboxstudiofr@proton.me, the sender address, message content and any attachments you choose to include will be processed by the email services involved. BLACKBOX has no website contact form or support-ticket database in this build. Email messages are retained in the mailbox until they are deleted or are no longer needed for the relevant conversation, subject to the email provider's systems and applicable law.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

The BLACKBOX website and player code in this package do not intentionally set advertising or analytics cookies. The player uses browser storage such as localStorage and IndexedDB for application preferences and state; these are browser storage mechanisms, not cookies. The hosting or security provider may use strictly technical mechanisms, including cookies, depending on the final deployment configuration. The live deployment must be checked before publication to confirm what is actually set.

For more detail, see Storage and Cookies.

7. Why information is processed

Technical delivery data is processed by the hosting provider to serve and protect the website. Player data is stored so the application can remember your preferences and library activity on your device. Lyrics metadata is sent only when you activate the lookup. Email information is used to respond to your message. BLACKBOX Studio does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising in this build.

8. Sharing and international processing

Information may pass through the website hosting/network provider, the LRCLIB service when you request lyrics, and the email providers involved when you contact us. Those services may process data in locations outside your country under their own terms and privacy notices. BLACKBOX does not operate a user database or share a music library with advertisers.

9. Retention and control

Player state remains in your browser profile or in files you choose to store on your drive until you clear or delete it. Export an Everything ZIP before clearing browser data or moving to another browser profile. The music audio files remain in the folders you selected. The hosting provider controls its technical log retention under its own policies. Email retention depends on the mailbox and how long the conversation is kept.

You can contact us about a privacy question or request at blackboxstudiofr@proton.me. We can only access or change information that is actually within our control; we cannot remotely inspect or delete files stored only on your computer or USB drive.

10. Children and international visitors

BLACKBOX does not require accounts and is not designed to collect children's personal information through the website. The site is publicly accessible, so applicable child-protection and privacy obligations must still be assessed against the audience, jurisdiction and final hosting setup. Privacy laws may differ based on where a visitor lives.

11. India privacy-law timetable

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 have a phased commencement schedule. The commencement notification published in the Gazette of India on 13 November 2025 schedules certain provisions from 13 November 2026 and the main processing, notice and consent provisions from 13 May 2027. BLACKBOX Studio will review this notice and the actual data practices before the relevant provisions apply. Read the official commencement notification.

12. Changes and questions

This notice must be updated if the website adds analytics, accounts, forms, payments, advertising, new third-party integrations or other data collection. For questions, email blackboxstudiofr@proton.me.
